GHOST OF BANKFIELD MINE

The Globe and Mail always has some interesting stories about Northern Ontario. Here is one where three miners Bankfield Mine quit their job after seeing the Elf of the Mines as reported in March 1937.

At the risk of detracting from this fine story, my research reveals that miners in the old Bankfield mine also reported that at one point they could walk underground through drifts (tunnels) from one of the adjacent mines, the Jellicoe or the Magnet.

Thanks to Claude Nadon and his Facebook site.
